Home Adviser urges passport, visa wing officials to uphold service ethics
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has called on officials of the Passport and Visa Wings at Bangladesh missions abroad to serve with a strong sense of duty and a service-oriented mindset.
He made the remarks on Sunday while addressing a training and orientation program at the Ministry of Home Affairs’ conference room in the Bangladesh Secretariat. The event was organized for newly appointed First and Second Secretaries of the Passport and Visa Wings posted to Bangladesh missions overseas.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Adviser emphasized the vital role of expatriates in the national economy, stating that overseas Bangladeshis, particularly those from the working class, are the driving force behind the country’s remittance inflow.
“Officials must serve them with sincerity, professionalism, and respect. Maintaining good relations with both expatriates and fellow mission staff is crucial to fostering a healthy work environment,” he said.
Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs Nasimul Ghani was present at the event as special guest and also addressed the attendees.
Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Chowdhury further urged the officers to uphold the integrity and reputation of the civil service. “There can be no place for corruption or political allegiance within the ranks of public service,” he cautioned.
He concluded by urging the officials to carry out their duties with dedication, and to avoid any actions that could tarnish the image of Bangladesh on the global stage.
