Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (Retd.), said that police officers encounter numerous challenges in the course of their duties. To address these challenges, patience is crucial. Many issues can be resolved through dialogue and understanding, and the unnecessary use of batons or force must be avoided.

He made these remarks to the Bangladesh police officers during a view-exchange session at the Bangladesh Police Auditorium in Rajarbagh Police Lines on Tuesday, marking Police Week-2025.

The Home Affairs Advisor urged police personnel to change public perceptions of the police force through good behavior, quality service, and honesty.

“Ensure that common people are not harassed in any way,” he emphasized.

Jahangir Alam advised the police to work impartially for the people, staying free from political influence.

“Do not seek special advantages from anyone and stay away from bribery and corruption,” he added.

He mentioned that the government is actively addressing the police's challenges, including the severe shortage of accommodation and vehicles.

“We are working to resolve various issues faced by the police. Steps have been taken to purchase 200 pickup vans for police stations, and the matter is scheduled to be presented before the Cabinet’s Purchase Affairs Committee today,” he explained.

Recognizing the numerous challenges faced by police officers while carrying out their duties, he urged them to approach their work with patience.

“Do not resort to batons or excessive force unnecessarily. Many problems can be resolved through discussions and patience,” he stated.

The Home Affairs Advisor also mentioned that initiatives have been taken to provide loans for purchasing motorcycles, with sub-inspectors (SIs) and assistant sub-inspectors (ASIs) set to benefit in the initial phase.
