Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has called on members of the Bangladesh Police to maintain neutrality during the upcoming elections and avoid aligning with any political party.

He made the call at the inauguration of an election training programme at Rajarbagh Police Lines on Sunday (September 7).

“Police work must always be conducted in the service of the people, without favouring any political party,” he said.

“It is essential that police officers do not consider themselves political operatives. Peace cannot be achieved through force or muscle power,” he added.

The adviser further cautioned that offering support to any political party now would be futile once the elections are over.
