Home Adviser urges protesting students to hold programmes at Suhrawardy Udyan
Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has urged students of seven government colleges affiliated to Dhaka University (DU) to hold programmes at Suhrawardy Udyan instead of occupying various roads in the capital and protesting.
He made this call after the meeting of the core committee on law and order in the country at the Secretariat on Monday.
Urging them not to hold such protests by blocking roads, the Home Affairs Adviser said, "I request you to go to Suhrawardy Udyan or any field and hold such a rally to press for such demands. Holding such a rally on the road increases suffering. Everything can be resolved through discussion."
He said, the police patiently dealt with the clash between students of seven colleges including Dhaka College and Dhaka University last night. I hope this problem will be resolved soon.
Law Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul also spoke to reporters at the time. He said, "This is an unexpected incident. The government will do whatever is necessary to handle the situation."
