Home Adviser vows to transfer Shammo murder investigation to DB

Home Adviser Lt Gen (Retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has assured that the investigation into the murder of Shahriar Alam Shammo, a Chhatra Dal leader and student of Dhaka University's Institute of Education and Research (IER), will be transferred to the Detective Branch (DB).

The assurance was given on Sunday afternoon (May 18) during a meeting at the Ministry of Home Affairs in the Secretariat, where a delegation led by Dhaka University Vice Chancellor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan met with the Home Adviser.

Director of the Institute of Education and Research, Professor Hosne Ara Begum, and several student representatives were also present during the meeting.

After the meeting, Professor Hosne Ara Begum said, "We told the Adviser that justice for Shammo’s murder should be delivered quickly. The Home Adviser assured us that the criminals will be arrested and that the investigation into Shammo’s murder will be handed over to the Detective Branch (DB)."
