Home Adviser's DOHS residence catches fire
A fire broke out at a unit of Home Affairs Adviser Lt. Gen. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd.)'s residence in the capital's Baridhara DOHS. The Home Affairs Adviser lives on the first floor of the building.
The fire is said to have started in the kitchen on the 4th floor of the building. The unit is rented out to an organization.
The incident took place around 6:30 pm on Thursday.
Rakibul Hasan, duty officer of the Fire Service's control room, said that the fire mainly broke out in the kitchen on the 4th floor. After receiving the information, the Fire Service reached the spot and extinguished the fire without any delay. The Fire Service members left the scene at 7:24 pm.
He said that the fire started due to an electrical short circuit. The Fire Service also said that there were no casualties in the incident.
