Home Minister's friend Engineer Md Jasim Uddin appointed chairman of CoxDA
The government has appointed engineer Md. Jasim Uddin as the chairman of the Cox’s Bazar Development Authority (CoxDA), according to an official notification issued on Thursday (June 11).
The appointment was made through a gazette notification from the Contract and Foreign Appointments Wing of the Ministry of Public Administration, signed by Deputy Secretary Md. Golam Rabbani on behalf of the President.
According to the notification, Jasim Uddin has been appointed on a contractual basis under Section 5(2) of the Cox’s Bazar Development Authority Act, 2016. He will serve as chairman (Grade-2) for a one-year term from the date of joining.
The order stated that prior to assuming office, he must sever all professional, business, and institutional affiliations, including government, semi-government, and private sector engagements.
Copies of the order have been sent to the Cabinet Secretary, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, and other relevant offices for necessary action.
Jasim Uddin hails from Uttar Mehernama village under Pekua upazila in Cox’s Bazar. He is the son of Master Kamal Hossain.
He completed his BSc in Civil Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) and joined the state-owned Eastern Refinery in 1984. He retired from government service on September 29, 2020, after a long professional career.
Family sources said his wife and daughter are both physicians, while his son is currently studying at a medical college.
The Cox’s Bazar Development Authority is responsible for planning and implementing infrastructure and urban development projects in the country’s key tourist district.
