Hossain Sadat appointed new BSEC commissioner

Hossain Sadat (FCS) has been appointed as a new commissioner of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), the capital market regulator. He has been given the responsibility for the next four years.

A notification signed by Farzana Jahan, Deputy Secretary of the Capital Market-1 Branch of the Financial Institutions Division of the Ministry of Finance, confirmed the appointment on Tuesday (July 28). The notification stated that the appointment, made by the President's order in the public interest, will take immediate effect.

The notification said Hossain Sadat has been appointed as a commissioner for a term of four years from the date of joining, under Section 5(2) of the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission Act, 1993.

It further stated that, according to the terms of the appointment, he must relinquish all existing professional ties with other institutions or organisations. His salary, allowances and other benefits will be determined according to the terms agreed with the government.

Hossain Sadat is currently serving as the President of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB). He also serves as a member of the boards and councils of the Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM), the Corporate Secretaries International Association and the ICSB.
