Hotline launched for expats whose visas expired: Expat Welfare Minister
The government has launched a hotline to assist Bangladeshi expatriates whose visas have expired due to flight cancellations caused by the war situation in Iran. Expat Welfare, Labour and Employment Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury provided this information.
He made these remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a Holi festival event organised by the Academy for Manipuri Culture and Arts at Mirzajangal area in Sylhet city on Saturday morning, March 7.
The minister said many expatriates' visas have expired due to flight cancellations caused by the war situation. If such expatriates contact the Expat Welfare Ministry's hotline, the government will assist them to the best of its ability. He said the government is committed to solving various problems of expatriates.
He further informed that if news is received of any Bangladeshi being killed in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, the government of the concerned country is immediately notified. The Expat Welfare Ministry is regularly monitoring the matter, and the prime minister is also regularly inquiring about it.
Speaking at the event, the minister said Holi is a Manipuri festival. The Manipuri community has various problems. The government will take effective steps to resolve them.
