Housewife dies in lightning strike in Cox's Bazar
A housewife named Rakiba Jannat Munni, 19, died in a lightning strike in Pekua, Cox's Bazar. The incident took place in the Tekpara area of Ujantia Union of the upazila around 9am on Tuesday (May 26).
The deceased Munni is the wife of Sadek Hossain of Tekpara village. She got married to Sadek Hossain a year ago.
According to local sources, Munni was busy with various activities with her family members in the kitchen of her house in the morning. At that time, she was seriously injured when a sudden lightning strike occurred. Later, her relatives rescued her and took her to Pekua Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared Munni dead.
Confirming this, Sharif Uddin, a member of Ward No. 8 of Ujantia Union, said that the death in the lightning strike has cast a shadow of grief over the family.
In this regard, Pekua Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mehedi Hasan said, "Upon receiving the information, a police team went to the Upazila Health Complex and prepared a post-mortem report on the deceased. Further legal proceedings are underway in this incident."
