Housewife reportedly beaten to death in Naogaon

Allegations have been raised that a housewife, Protima Rani, 24, was beaten to death in Patnitala, Naogaon. Police recovered the body from the victim's own residence in Uzirpur Chaudhuri Para area of Nazipur union in the upazila around 11 am on Saturday, February 28.

It is suspected that the housewife was murdered by her husband following a domestic dispute at some point during the night on Friday, February 27. After the body was recovered, police detained the victim's husband, Pradip Chowdhury, 37, from a crematorium in the neighbouring area.

According to the victim's family and police sources, following a long-standing family dispute, Pradip struck his wife's forehead with a rolling pin on Friday night. The housewife, Protima Rani, fell unconscious on the bed. After spending the night with his wife in this condition, Pradip noticed on Saturday morning that Protima Rani had died. He immediately left the house and went to the crematorium. Shortly after, when news of Protima's death spread, locals informed the police station.

Patnitala Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Asaduzzaman said a team was immediately sent to the spot after receiving information, and the body has been recovered. Injury marks are present on various parts of the victim's body. Preparations are underway to send the body to the 250-bed Naogaon General Hospital for autopsy.
