Housewife stabbed to death in Cox’s Bazar
Shilpi Shil, 50, a housewife, has been killed by the stabbing of a miscreant in her own house in Maheshkhali of Cox’s Bazar. The incident took place in the Kalagazirpara area of Hoanak union of the upazila around 7:30pm on Monday (September 7).
The deceased Shilpi Shil is the wife of local businessman Rabi Shil alias Rabi Saudagar. Local sources said Rabi Shil runs a shop in the market and his wife Shilpi Shil usually stayed alone at home. Their children are staying in Dhaka for studies.
Nikash Sharma, nephew of the deceased, said his aunt was alone at home when his uncle rushed home after getting the news of the stabbing and rescued his wife in a seriously injured condition. Later when she was quickly taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex the duty doctor declared her dead.
According to the version of eyewitnesses and locals, an unidentified person entered the house with the intention of theft at the time of the incident. At that time Shilpi Shil saw him and started shouting ‘thief, thief’. Fearing being caught after hearing the shout the person stabbed her in the stomach and quickly fled, police are initially assuming. Later neighbours saw her in a seriously injured condition and tried to take her to hospital, but she could not be saved.
A section of the locals think this killing may have taken place with the intention of theft, while some are not ruling out the possibility of previous enmity or robbery either. However the actual reason for the killing and who are specifically involved with it has not yet been confirmed.
After getting the news police went to the spot and started the process of recovering the body. It has been learnt that police investigation is continuing to uncover the actual reason for the incident and identify those involved and bring them under the law.
SI Kajal Das of Maheshkhali police station said they have talked to the neighbours of Shilpi to know about this incident. It is being assumed that the miscreants entered that house with the intention of committing theft. Police have recovered a shoe of an unidentified person from in front of that house at night.
This police officer said the body will be sent to the morgue of Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Excitement and panic have been created across the area over this incident. Local residents have demanded quick uncovering of the mystery of the killing and arrest of the real criminals.
