Habiganj man kills wife on eid day

A housewife was allegedly strangled to death by her husband, in Madhabpur of Habiganj, following a family dispute.

The incident took place on Monday morning (March 31) in Haria village, and the accused husband Nazmul has been on the run since the incident.  

According to the victim, Angura’s family, frequent quarrels had strained their relationship, with a heated argument taking place the night before. Early in the morning, Angura was allegedly strangled, after which Nazmul fled. The couple has a 5-year-old daughter.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Habiganj Sadar Hospital for an autopsy. No case has been filed yet, but efforts are underway to arrest the suspect, confirmed SI Shahnur, Madhabpur Police Station’s Second Officer.

Abdullah Al Mamun, officer-in-charge (OC) of Madhabpur Police Station, said, "Legal action would be taken once a formal complaint is lodged."
