Police have recovered the hanging body of a housewife from her residence in Ramu upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

The body was recovered from the victim’s home in Ukhiarghona area under Ward No. 9 of Kauarkhop Union on Wednesday morning (June 10).

According to police and local sources, the deceased was the wife of Abdul Haque, a local madrasa teacher who also practises homeopathic medicine.

Family and local residents said the couple had reportedly been experiencing marital disputes and family tensions for some time. Preliminary accounts suggest the woman may have taken her own life following the ongoing discord.

However, police say the exact cause and circumstances of the death remain unclear.

Upon receiving information, a team from Ramu Police Station rushed to the scene and recovered the body. After completing the inquest, the body was sent to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Confirming the incident, Ramu Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Monirul Islam Bhuiyan said the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

“The actual cause of death will be determined after receiving the autopsy report. We are investigating the incident from all possible angles,” the OC said.
