How can I contest election under administration that is already biased: Rumeen Farhana

Independent candidate Rumeen Farhana of the Brahmanbaria-2 constituency (Sarail–Ashuganj–two unions of Bijoynagar) has accused the administration of biased conduct. She said, “How can I contest an election under an administration that is already biased?”

The former BNP leader made the allegation after receiving a show-cause notice over an incident involving the alleged display of a thumbs-up gesture towards the Sarail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Assistant Returning Officer.

Rumeen Farhana made the remarks while speaking to journalists during an exchange of views at the Brahmanbaria Press Club on Monday afternoon.

She said, “I did not show a thumbs-up gesture to anyone. While referring to a thumbs-up gesture shown by the Ashuganj Upazila BNP general secretary, I demonstrated it in that manner. For one alleged offence, a process is underway to punish me three times, even with the phrase ‘if it happened’ being used.
