Press Release

Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh HRPB has formed its United Arab Emirates chapter committee at a meeting of expatriate Bangladeshis in Dubai.

The meeting was held on December 29 at Al Musa Tower near the World Trade Centre, with a pledge to work for the rights of expatriates. Businessman Sihab Uddin Simul presided over the discussion meeting, while HRPB central president senior lawyer Manzil Morshed attended as the chief guest.

Speakers at the meeting included Rakimul Al Mamun, Dr Mohammad Jafar Iqbal, Mohammad Mojibur Mia and Mohammad Yasin Babul.

In his address, Manzil Morshed said there was no alternative to establishing a dedicated expatriate tribunal to ensure legal remedies for expatriates’ property, business and other rights in Bangladesh. He said expatriates are often deprived of their rightful ownership of hard-earned assets due to legal complications and urged all expatriates to unite and demand the formation of such a tribunal.

Following the meeting, a 21-member convening committee was formed by consensus, with businessman Rakimul Al Mamun as convener, Sihab Uddin Simul as member secretary, and Mohammad Mojibur Mia and Mohammad Yasin Babul as joint conveners. Other members include Mohammad Mozammel Hossain and Abdur Razzak Sheikh, among others.
