The candidates for the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, scheduled to be held from June 30 to August 11, have staged demonstrations and formed a human chain in Rajshahi city demanding the postponement of the exam.
Under the banner of “HSC 2024 batch Rajshahi”, the human chain was formed at Sahebbazar Zero point in the divisional city on Thursday (May 30) morning.
About 50 students brought out a protest procession from Hosseiniganj Museum intersection in Rajshahi at 12 noon. The protestors chanted slogans like, “'One point one demand, HSC exams have to be delayed by two months”.
After parading the main city streets, the procession ended at Sahebbazar Zero point intersection in the city. There they formed a human chain and organised a protest rally. After about half an hour, they once again left with a protest procession towards Hosseinaganj Museum.
Md Safawat Hossain, a student of Police Lines School and College, said, “The date for HSC exams has been fixed from June 30. An intense heatwave is ongoing and the time is short. But the syllabus is very long and it’s hard to complete it. That is why we are demanding to postpone the exams.”
