HSC exam held with 2025 question paper, Tag officer relieved of duty

In Nilphamari's Kishoreganj, an HSC examination was mistakenly conducted using the 2025 question paper instead of the 2026 version. The Tag Officer (supervising officer) of the examination centre, Firozul Alam, has been relieved of duty over charges of negligence. The district administration has also sent a letter to the Dinajpur Education Board to relieve the centre secretary, Principal Badshah Alamgir, from his duty.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) of the district administration, Md Mehedi Morshed, confirmed the matter on Thursday (July 23) afternoon.

It is known that on July 19, when the HSC History first paper examination began at the Barovita School and College centre in Kishoreganj upazila, examinees were mistakenly given the 2025 question paper. They took the exam with that paper from 10am to 11:45am. Later, when the error was detected, the exam was suspended and the correct 2026 question paper was distributed, with extra time given, and the examination continued until 2:20pm.

When the matter came to light, the Upazila Executive Officer (UNO) Arifur Rahman relieved the Tag Officer Firozul Alam from duty and formed a three-member investigation committee. The committee submitted its report on Tuesday.

UNO Arifur Rahman said the investigation has been completed and the report sent to the relevant authorities.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Md Mehedi Morshed said following the investigation, the Tag Officer on duty has been relieved. Additionally, a letter has been sent to the Education Board requesting that the centre secretary be relieved of duty and replaced by the assistant principal.
