Hanging body of an examinee of this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations was recovered from a house in Malibagh in the capital. The 20-year-old student, Md Ragib Noor Nohan, son of Mehebur Rahman of Kaunkhali village at Banaripara upazila in Barishal. He was brought to Dhaka Medical College (DMCH) Hospital at around 8:45am on Saturday (July 5) in an unconscious state, where the doctor-on-duty declared him dead. Md Faruk, inspector in-charge of DMCH Hospital Police Camp, confirmed the death of the student. Ragib's maternal uncle Md Selim said, "My nephew committed suicide after experiencing emotional distress related to a romantic relationship."

রাজধানীর মালিবাগে একটি বাসা থেকে এক এইচএসসি শিক্ষার্থীর ঝুলন্ত মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে। নিহত মো. রাগিব নূর নোহান (২০) বরিশালের বানারীপাড়া উপজেলার কাউনখালী গ্রামের মেহেবুর রহমানের ছেলে। শনিবার (৫ জুলাই) সকাল পৌনে ৯টার দিকে অচেতন অবস্থায় তাকে ঢাকা মেডিকেল কলেজ (ঢামেক) হাসপাতালে নিয়ে আসলে জরুরি বিভাগের দায়িত্বরত চিকিৎসক পরীক্ষা-নিরীক্ষা শেষে তাকে মৃত ঘোষণা করেন। তিনি আত্মহত্যা করেছেন বলে অভিযোগ উঠেছে। নিহতের মামা মো. সেলিম গণমাধ্যমকে জানান, একটি মেয়ের সাথে প্রেমঘটিত কারণে তার ভাগ্নে আত্মহত্যা করেছে। ঢামেক হাসপাতালের পুলিশ ক্যাম্পের ইনচার্জ পরিদর্শক মো. ফারুক চিকিৎসকের বরাতে ওই শিক্ষার্থীর মৃত্যুর বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করেন।
