HSC exams resume under Chattogram board after floods, 1,825 absent

The HSC and equivalent examinations under the Chattogram Education Board resumed on Monday (July 27) after being postponed due to the flood situation.

A total of 75,731 examinees took the exams on the first day out of 77,556 registered across five districts under the Chattogram Education Board. A total of 1,825 candidates were absent, which accounts for approximately 2.35 percent of the total.

According to the daily report from the Chattogram Education Board's Controller of Examinations office, one examinee was expelled on the first day for adopting unfair means. Examinations were held at a total of 114 centres.

District-wise data shows that in Chattogram district, 55,385 out of 56,587 candidates took the exam, with 1,202 absent and one expelled. In Cox's Bazar, 263 out of 9,092 candidates were absent. In Rangamati, 109 out of 3,966 were absent. In Khagrachhari, 154 out of 5,219 were absent, and in Bandarban, 97 out of 2,692 candidates were absent.

Controller of Examinations Professor Dr Md Parvez Sajjad Chowdhury said the HSC exams have resumed after nearly two weeks as the flood situation has improved. The overall situation at all centres was reported to be good.
