'Human trafficker' Shaker Majhi held

Teknaf Model Police Station has arrested Shaker Majhi, one of the ringleaders of a human trafficking ring in Malaysia, in a raid in Teknaf of Cox's Bazar.

Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Saiful Islam said that the arrested Shaker Majhi is being interrogated extensively.

He was picked up from his house in Teknaf on Wednesday (May 13) evening.

Shaker Majhi, son of Kabir Ahmed, is a resident of Ramunda Dale area of ​​Sabrang Union in Teknaf Upazila of Cox's Bazar.

Teknaf Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Saiful Islam confirmed the news. He also said that Shaker Majhi's name is on the list of human traffickers accused in the sinking of a trawler in the Andaman Sea and two of his boats have been seized earlier.

The OC also said that the arrested person has also confessed to being involved in the yaba trade.

There are 11 cases against him in the police station. He is currently under arrest in a human trafficking case and other cases against him are also being investigated.
