Humanities pass rate falls below 50%, science posts 80.64%
More than half of the students in the humanities stream failed this year’s SSC examinations under nine general education boards, while the science stream recorded a significantly stronger 80.64% pass rate, official results showed Monday (August 10).
The humanities stream posted a pass rate of just 48.74 percent, with only 301,174 of 617,885 candidates successfully passing the examination.
By comparison, 457,188 of 566,958 science students passed, giving the stream an 80.64 percent pass rate.
Business studies recorded a 64.29 percent pass rate, with 141,248 of 219,696 candidates passing.
Among the nine general education boards, Dhaka recorded the highest humanities pass rate at 55.62 percent, while Dinajpur posted the lowest at 38.75 percent.
In science, Jashore led the boards with an 86.90% pass rate, followed by Dhaka at 85.90 percent.
Overall, 899,610 of 1,404,539 candidates under the nine general education boards passed this year’s SSC examination.
