Husband detained after woman hacked to death in Bogura
A housewife was allegedly hacked to death by her husband following a family dispute in Sariakandi upazila of Bogura.
The incident took place around 12:30pm in the Narchi Gonokpara area of the upazila on Thursday (May 28).
The deceased was identified as Mimi Begum, 26, wife of local carpenter Rubel Mondal, 30. Police have taken the accused husband into custody shortly after the killing.
According to police and local sources, an argument broke out between the couple at their home around noon. At one stage, Rubel allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp knife, inflicting multiple injuries on her body. She died on the spot from the severe wounds.
After receiving information, members of Sariakandi Police Station rushed to the scene, recovered the body and detained the accused.
A F M Asaduzzaman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Sariakandi Police Station, confirmed the incident, saying the victim bore multiple sharp weapon injuries on her body.
“Primarily, it appears the murder took place following a family dispute. The husband has been detained and is being questioned over his alleged involvement,” the OC said.
Police said the body is being sent to the morgue of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for autopsy. A murder case is now being prepared in connection with the incident.
