Police have detained a man accused of brutally killing his wife and hiding her body in a septic tank at their home in Shibganj of Chapainawabganj.

The deceased, Nasima Begum, wife of Mizanur Rahman, was found dead on Wednesday morning (March 11). Her body was recovered from a septic tank at a house in Raninagar of Monakasha Union.

According to police and local sources, the killing is believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Investigators said Mizanur allegedly stabbed his wife with a sharp weapon inside the house during the night and later concealed the body in the toilet’s septic tank before fleeing the area.

After the incident came to light, local residents detained the suspect and handed him over to police.

Officers from Shibganj Police Station recovered the body from the septic tank and sent it for post-mortem examination.

Additional Superintendent of Police ANM Wasim Firoz of Chapainawabganj confirmed the incident, saying the suspect had been detained and had confessed to the killing during preliminary interrogation.

The body was sent to the Chapainawabganj 250-Bed District Hospital morgue for autopsy, while police said preparations were underway to file a case over the incident.
