Husband flees after removing gold jewellery from pregnant wife's body at RMCH
A shocking incident has occurred in Rajshahi involving the death of a woman. After the woman died while undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, her husband and his relatives allegedly removed gold jewellery from her body and fled.
The deceased is Hasina Khatun, 21, daughter of Hasan Ali of Andardighi village in Sapahar upazila, Naogaon. She was married to Md Ratul of Rajabari Mollapara village in Godagari upazila, Rajshahi, about seven months ago. At the time of her death, she was two months pregnant.
The family alleged that Hasina had been subjected to torture by her husband for a long time over dowry demands. Pressure was being put on her to bring Tk 1 lakh, which Ratul wanted to use to start a business selling phensedyl. The torture increased when she could not arrange the money. In this situation, Hasina consumed pesticide late on Monday night.
