Husband, wife die in electrocution in Jhenaidah
A farmer and his wife died after being electrocuted while cutting grass for their cattle in Madhabpur village of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah early Wednesday (August 26).
The deceased were Amarendra Nath Bhowmik, 70, and his wife Minakshi Rani Bhowmik, 65, residents of the village.
According to police and locals, Amarendra was operating a grass-cutting machine at dawn when the machine came into contact with an electrical wire, causing him to suffer an electric shock. His wife was also electrocuted when she rushed to rescue him.
Family members noticed the incident and took the couple to Shailkupa Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared them dead after examination.
Humayun Kabir Molla, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shailkupa Police Station, said police had been sent to the scene and an investigation would be conducted before further legal action.
