I wasn't aware of pre-election deal with US: President
President Md. Sahabuddin has said that he was not aware of the pre-election deal with the US.
He said this in a long interview with national media outlet Kaler Kantho on Friday night.
Raising allegations against Dr. Yunus, he further said, 'the chief adviser of the interim government Dr. Muhammad Yunus did not coordinate normally with me. Although there is a provision according to the constitution to inform the President after a foreign trip, he did not comply with it. He has been on foreign trips 14-15 times, he did not brief me even once.'
He also said he was not aware of the pre-election agreement with the United States.
The President claimed that he was not allowed to go despite receiving invitations to Kosovo and Qatar. Regarding the invitation from the Emir of Qatar, he said that a draft letter was sent to him from the Foreign Ministry, which stated that the visit had been canceled on the pretext of busy schedule.
He said, 'I sent the letter back with a question mark and condemned this behavior.'
The President alleged, 'His picture was removed from Bangladesh missions abroad. The President's picture was taken down from high commissions around the world overnight. This was the 'first step' of the removal plan.'
