Ideal College students block Science Lab intersection

Students of Ideal College in Dhanmondi have blocked the Science Lab intersection since Sunday afternoon, protesting the death of their classmate in a recent road accident that place in 300 feet in the capital.

The demonstration began after 1 PM, causing traffic disruptions along one side of the busy road. The students are demanding a thorough and transparent investigation and justice against those responsible for their classmate’s death.

“We want a fair investigation and for the culprits to be held accountable,” the students said. Frustrated by the lack of progress, they say blocking the road was their only option to draw attention.

Earlier, the students held a sit-in and a protest rally starting at noon in front of Concord Tower. The rally moved through Katabon and Nilkhet intersections before returning to Science Lab, where the blockade continues.

The incident occurred on May 23 when student Arshad went out with friends near the 300 Feet area. At around 3 AM, he had an altercation with an unknown truck driver. Later, near Banglamotor, Arshad died in a collision involving the same truck. Although the driver was arrested, he was later released on bail, which has angered the community.

The students vow to continue their protest until justice is served.
