IGP Baharul denies resignation reports

Inspector General of Police Baharul Alam has informed the media that he has not resigned.

Reports of his resignation spread from Sunday afternoon and were published as news in multiple media outlets.

Following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, 2024, various administrative positions across the country underwent reshuffles. In continuation of this, Baharul Alam was appointed IGP on November 21. Prior to this, he had retired from the police department in 2020.

The interim government appointed him as IGP on a two-year contractual basis. According to his contract, his tenure is scheduled to end on November 20 this year.
