IMF projects 4.9% GDP growth for Bangladesh in FY2025–26
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has projected Bangladesh’s GDP to grow by 4.9% in fiscal year 2025–26, up from 3.8% in the previous year, signaling a steady economic rebound.
According to the IMF’s World Economic Outlook released on Tuesday (October 14) in Washington, the country’s average inflation may ease to 8.8% this fiscal year and further decline to 5.5% in the following year.
However, the IMF cautioned that pressures in the banking sector, energy supply constraints, and global trade uncertainties could hinder the recovery.
It emphasized the need for financial reforms, fiscal discipline, and sustainable growth measures.
Globally, the IMF projected 3.2% growth this year—1.5% for advanced economies and slightly above 4% for emerging and developing ones.
