Implementing anyone’s party interest is not the task of the interim government, said BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman. He also stated that BNP will remain active on the ground to resist the secret forces of fascist power.

He made the remarks on Saturday afternoon while addressing the Hindu Representatives’ Conference organised by Matua Bahujan Samaj Oikya Jote at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh KIB Convention Hall in the capital, joining virtually.

Tarique Rahman said that establishing a democratic government accountable and responsible to the people through the people’s vote in a fascism-free Bangladesh is one of the key duties of the current interim government. Certainly, implementing anyone’s party interest is not the role of this government. For that reason, instead of putting any kind of pressure on the government, BNP has given notes of dissent where necessary. This, he said, is what BNP considers the “decent way.”

He said that during fascist rule, some anti-fascists adopted covert strategies to survive the wrath of fascism. Similarly, he urged vigilance to ensure that the fallen and defeated fascist forces do not now adopt covert strategies to obstruct the country’s transition towards democracy.

The BNP Acting Chairman said that BNP has maintained a relationship of understanding with the interim government and the anti-fascist movement activists. He reiterated that forming a democratic and accountable government is the primary duty of the interim government, not implementing any partisan interest.
