In Gazipur, police-labourers still chasing each other

In Gazipur, there have been incidents of police running back and forth with garment workers demanding salary increase. This incident took place in Najod area of Gazipur on Thursday morning.

Sources said, workers of a garment factory in Chandana area of Gazipur metropolis started a protest by stopping work demanding salary increase around 9 am. Later, the industry and the police brought the situation under control by convincing the workers. After some time, the garment workers staged a protest on the Dhaka-Tangail highway. They also set fire to tires on the highway. At that time, the workers and the police chased each other.

Gazipur Additional Superintendent of Police (Industrial Police) Imran Ahmed confirmed this information. He said that workers started protesting in a factory in Chandna area this morning, later the situation was brought under control by explaining to them. However, the workers of some nearby factories vandalized including Naojor. They set fire and blocked the highway.
