India committed to deepening friendship with Bangladesh: Dinesh Trivedi

India is sincerely interested in further strengthening and deepening its bilateral friendship and partnership with Bangladesh, said Indian High Commissioner to Dhaka Dinesh Trivedi.

He reaffirmed this message at an event organised at the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Saturday morning to mark India's 80th Independence Day.

Committing to further advancing the existing friendly relations between the two countries, the Indian High Commissioner said the relationship between Bangladesh and India is growing increasingly stronger on the basis of mutual respect and cooperation.

Dinesh Trivedi said partnership between Bangladesh and India in various areas is progressing further. There are opportunities to improve multifaceted relations, including trade and culture. At the same time, there are significant opportunities to work with Bangladesh in the renewable energy sector.

The Indian High Commissioner also said people-to-people ties, shared aspirations and a spirit of cooperation form the foundation of Bangladesh-India friendship.

He expressed hope that the two countries would work more closely together in the future for shared development and prosperity.

The Independence Day programme at the Indian High Commission in Baridhara began with the hoisting of the national flag, followed by the singing of the Indian national anthem.

Officials and staff of the Indian High Commission, Indian citizens residing in Dhaka and invited guests were present.
