India hands over body of Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing
Indian police have returned the body of a Bangladeshi national six days after he was shot dead in BSF firing at the Chuadanga border.
The body of the deceased, Ibrahim Babu, was returned through a flag meeting near Pillar No. 76 of the Darshana border around 9.00pm on Tuesday (July 8).
Police from Krishnanagar Police Station in Nadia district, India, handed over the body to Darshana Police Station in Chuadanga in the presence of the Darshana Company Commander of BGB-6 Battalion and the Gede Company Commandant of the BSF's 32nd Battalion.
According to BGB source, On July 2, Bangladeshi national Ibrahim Babu was killed in BSF firing at the Jhanjhadanga border in Damurhuda, Chuadanga. His body was taken to a hospital inside India. Later, a flag meeting was held demanding the return of the body.
Following this, the handover process was completed through the Darshana border on Tuesday night, six days after the incident.
Shahid Titumir, officer-in-charge (OC) of Darshana Police Station, said, "The body has been handed over to the deceased' relatives after receiving it from the Indian police."
