Information and Broadcasting Adviser Nahid Islam said that protecting Bangladesh's minorities is the country's responsibility and emphasized that there is no need for commentary from India.

In an interview with BBC Hindi on Thursday (November 14), Nahid Islam discussed the safety of minorities, allegations of persecution, the July-August uprisings, and joint Bangladesh-India projects.

In response to a question, Nahid Islam said, "The minorities in Bangladesh are our citizens, and it is our responsibility to ensure their safety. India doesn't need to be concerned about them. India should focus on the violence that occurred last July-August. The real question is what kind of support India can provide to Bangladesh in addressing these challenges. This is where the discussions should be centered."

The Adviser stated that minorities now have increased confidence in law enforcement's protection. He also mentioned that previous governments had exploited minorities for political gain, leading to a loss of trust. However, he emphasized that efforts are currently being made to resolve these issues and called for patience to see progress.
