India offers continued support to Bangladesh following Milestone incident
The Indian medical team which recently visited Bangladesh has reaffirmed India’s commitment to provide any further assistance needed for the recovery of victims from the recent Milestone incident.
During their meeting with the chief adviser, the team highlighted that their visit followed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s offer to extend all possible support to Bangladesh for the swift recovery of those affected.
“India is willing to extend any further support that Bangladesh may need with regard to medical equipment or rehabilitation of those injured in the incident. If any patient requires further treatment in India, we can facilitate that promptly,” said the lead doctor of the team.
The visiting doctors expressed their satisfaction with the facilities and treatment procedures at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery (NIBPS).
The Indian delegation consisted of two burn specialists and two nursing assistants from RML Hospital and Safdarjung Hospital—two of India’s premier institutes specializing in burn recovery and plastic surgery.
Arriving in Dhaka on Wednesday (July 23), the team conducted four rounds of consultations at NIBPS before concluding their visit with a final review of the progress of critically injured patients. The team returned to India on Monday (July 28).
