Police in Chattogram say they have recovered an Indian Aadhaar card from alleged top crime figure Mobarak Hossain, alias David Iman.

The card reportedly bears the name "Azhar Khan." However, investigators have not yet determined whether the document is genuine or forged, and its authenticity is currently under examination.

The information was confirmed on Thursday by Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Russell of Chattogram.

According to police, the recovered Aadhaar card is a 12-digit biometric identity document issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The card lists the holder's date of birth as 12 May 1998.

Police said the development came during the investigation into the high-profile murder of Maksudul Haque Chowdhury, which took place in the Pahartali area on 13 June.

Investigators analyzed CCTV footage, technical evidence, and intelligence reports to identify those allegedly involved.

On July 22, police arrested one of the named suspects, Mithu alias Dhama Ilyas, who, during remand, allegedly provided information about a criminal network, weapons caches, and associates.

Investigators claim Dhama Ilyas was a close associate of another alleged criminal, Raihan, and faces 21 cases, including murder, illegal arms, and extortion.

Based on information obtained during questioning, police conducted a raid in the Jhumjhumpur area of Jashore on 29 July, arresting David Iman, Al Islam Alif alias Tamal, Md. Shamim, and Md. Safayet Hossain.

Police allege that David Iman had long been involved in criminal activities across Chattogram city, Fatikchhari, and Rangunia, and that he faces 13 criminal cases, including murder, illegal arms possession, and extortion.

Investigators also claim to have found evidence linking him to several other homicide cases in Chattogram, Raozan, and Rangunia.

Following further interrogation, police carried out another raid early Thursday at an abandoned house in Manikpur village under Kanchannagar Union in Fatikchhari.

During the operation, they recovered one foreign-made pistol, two locally made firearms (LG guns), and several other homemade weapons.

Law enforcement officials said they are now investigating how David Iman obtained the Aadhaar card and whether it is connected to any cross-border criminal network, in addition to verifying whether the identity document is authentic.
