Indian clothes worth Tk 10 crore seized
Coast Guard seized illegal Indian sarees, three pieces, and garments worth Tk 10.08 crore in Barishal University area on Thursday. They also seized two trucks during the raid.
According to Coast Guard sources, based on secret information, the area was cordoned off from Wednesday evening. Any suspicious vehicle was stopped and searched. Just before crossing the zero point of the university around 3 am, the Coast Guard spotted the driver and helper of the vehicle. At this time, when the two trucks were parked by the side of the road, they were intercepted. Subsequently, upon checking the concealed triple, they were found.
This evening, at the South Zone Coast Guard office press conference, Lt. Mohammad Aktar said, "These garments have been illegally brought from India. They were supposed to be taken to Dhaka from Patuakhali. The owner of these goods is still unknown, but through investigation, it will be revealed. Two trucks contain sarees and three pieces, with each item valued at least Tk 10,000. About 20 items of garments have been brought, with a market value of approximately Tk 10.08 crore."
