Indian goods worth over Tk 3 crore seized in Sylhet

A joint operation by 52 BGB and RAB-9 in Sylhet has seized a consignment of smuggled Indian goods valued at over Tk 3 crore.

RAB-9's Media Officer Additional Superintendent of Police K M Shahidul Islam Sohag confirmed the information in a press release on Thursday (July 23). RAB said the operation was conducted on Wednesday (July 22) morning around 8:30am at a warehouse in the city's Surma residential area.

The seized Indian goods include 1,77,630 pieces of various tablets, 100 pieces of sarees, 80 pieces of face wash, 100 pieces of shampoo, 29 pieces of serum and 1,787 pieces of syrup.

RAB-9's Media Officer Additional Superintendent of Police K M Shahidul Islam Sohag said the estimated market value of the seized Indian goods is Tk 3,24,94,050. He said, based on a tip-off, a joint team of RAB and BGB followed a covered van from the city's Tilagor area. When the covered van entered a warehouse in the Surma residential area, they raided the premises and seized the Indian goods.
