Senior officials from Bangladesh and India have stressed the importance of enhancing communication to further strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. The discussion took place during a courtesy meeting between Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapon and India’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pranay Verma. The meeting was held at the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting office in the Bangladesh Secretariat on Monday morning (April 13). During the meeting, both sides discussed various issues of mutual interest and cooperation. The Indian envoy congratulated the minister on assuming his new responsibilities. Both parties highlighted the need to increase communication at multiple levels in order to further improve India–Bangladesh relations.

তথ্য ও সম্প্রচারমন্ত্রী জহির উদ্দিন স্বপনের সঙ্গে সৌজন্য সাক্ষাৎ করেছেন বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত ভারতের হাইকমিশনার প্রণয় ভার্মা। সোমবার (১৩ এপ্রিল) সকালে সচিবালয়ে তথ্যমন্ত্রীর কার্যালয়ে এ সাক্ষাৎ অনুষ্ঠিত হয় বলে এক সংবাদ বিজ্ঞপ্তিতে জানানো হয়েছে। বৈঠকে বাংলাদেশ ও ভারতের পারস্পরিক স্বার্থসংশ্লিষ্ট বিভিন্ন বিষয় নিয়ে বিস্তারিত আলোচনা হয়। দুই দেশের মধ্যে সহযোগিতা আরও জোরদার করার সম্ভাবনা নিয়েও মতবিনিময় করেন তারা। সাক্ষাতের শুরুতে তথ্য ও সম্প্রচার মন্ত্রণালয়ের দায়িত্ব গ্রহণ করায় মন্ত্রী জহির উদ্দিন স্বপনকে আন্তরিক অভিনন্দন জানান ভারতীয় হাইকমিশনার। আলোচনায় দুই পক্ষই বাংলাদেশ-ভারত সম্পর্ক উন্নয়নে বিভিন্ন স্তরে যোগাযোগ বাড়ানোর ওপর গুরুত্বারোপ করেন। এতে পারস্পরিক বোঝাপড়া ও সহযোগিতা আরও শক্তিশালী হবে বলে তারা আশাবাদ ব্যক্ত করেন।
