Indian security official found dead at Chattogram High Commission
Police have recovered the body of an Indian national, Narendar Dhar, 38, from the premises of the Indian Assistant High Commission in Chattogram. He served as an assistant security officer at the mission.
The body was found on Tuesday morning, May 19. Authorities are yet to determine the circumstances leading to his death at the mission located in the Khulshi area. The body has been sent to the morgue at Chattogram Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
Sub-Inspector Enamul Haque of Khulshi Police Station, who was involved in the recovery, confirmed that the body was transported to the hospital. Inspector (Investigation) Md Nazrul Islam of Khulshi Police Station added that the body has been placed in the hospital morgue and will be handed over to the mission after the post-mortem examination. He noted that no visible injury marks were found on the body.
Attempts to reach the Indian High Commission for comment were unsuccessful, as calls to official numbers went unanswered. A person answering the phone of the High Commissioner's personal assistant declined to confirm the death, stating that official information could only be provided via email.
A senior police official of the North Zone said the mission requested the matter be kept confidential. The official also noted that no signs of foul play were immediately visible. Khulshi Police Station has filed an unnatural death case in connection with the incident.
