Bangladesh’s overall inflation increased marginally to 8.36% in September, up from 8.29% in August, according to data released by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) on Monday (October 6). Although the year-on-year rate has eased compared to 9.92% in September 2024, month-to-month figures indicate renewed upward pressure on prices. Food inflation rose to 7.64% in September from 7.60% in August, while non-food inflation climbed to 8.98% from 8.90%. Economists suggest that persistent non-food price pressures and supply-side constraints are keeping inflation above the government’s comfort level.

দেশে সেপ্টেম্বর মাসে সামগ্রিক মূল্যস্ফীতি বেড়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে ৮.৩৬ শতাংশে। আগের মাস আগস্টে এটি ছিল ৮.২৯ শতাংশ। সোমবার (৬ অক্টোবর) বাংলাদেশ পরিসংখ্যান ব্যুরো (বিবিএস) মূল্যস্ফীতির এই তথ্য প্রকাশ করেছে। সর্বশেষ তথ্য অনুযায়ী, মাসিক ভিত্তিতে মূল্যস্ফীতিতে সামান্য ঊর্ধ্বগতি লক্ষ্য করা গেছে। বিবিএসের তথ্য বলছে, গত বছরের একই সময়ে অর্থাৎ ২০২৪ সালের সেপ্টেম্বরে মূল্যস্ফীতির হার ছিল ৯ দশমিক ৯২ শতাংশ। অর্থাৎ, বছরওয়ারি হিসেবে মূল্যস্ফীতির চাপ কিছুটা কমলেও মাসওয়ারি ভিত্তিতে তা আবার বেড়েছে। খাতভিত্তিক বিশ্লেষণে দেখা যায়, সেপ্টেম্বর মাসে খাদ্যখাতে মূল্যস্ফীতি দাঁড়িয়েছে ৭ দশমিক ৬৪ শতাংশে, যা আগস্টে ছিল ৭ দশমিক ৬০ শতাংশ। অন্যদিকে খাদ্যবহির্ভূত খাতে মূল্যস্ফীতি বেড়ে হয়েছে ৮ দশমিক ৯৮ শতাংশ, যা এক মাস আগে ছিল ৮ দশমিক ৯০ শতাংশ। গত বছরের সেপ্টেম্বরে খাদ্যখাতে মূল্যস্ফীতি ছিল ১০ দশমিক ৪০ শতাংশ এবং খাদ্যবহির্ভূত খাতে ৯ দশমিক ৫০ শতাংশ।
