The administration has initiated steps to recover Tarapur tea garden in Sylhet, aiming to permanently halt the illegal occupation and sale of its land.

Earlier, in mid-2016, the garden, valued at thousands of crores of taka, was recovered from industrialist Ragib Ali's possession.

Following the recovery, the 500.5 acre tea garden was handed over to serviceman Pankoj Kumar Gupta in accordance with the court's verdict.

Although the garden has been under the administration's control for the past 8 years, its land has been illegally occupied and sold. In response, the administration began efforts to reclaim the occupied and sold land.

According to the local residents, the garden is surrounded by extensive private land, where many people have lived for years. Additionally, syndicates have formed in these areas to buy and sell garden land.

Rinku Chakraborty, manager and coordinator of Tarapur Tea Garden, said, "Although the Tarapur tea garden spans 500.5 acres, only 300.5 acres are officially recorded, with around 150 acres currently occupied."

Officials from the ADC Revenue, Assistant Commissioner of Land (Sadar), Assistant Commissioner of Land (Mahanagar), Executive Magistrate, Jalalabad Police Station, Airport Police Station, Kotwali Police Station, as well as Union Land Government Officers and Land Acquisition Officers were present during the eviction.
