Insulting our cricketer is insulting Nation: Mirza Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir condemned the exclusion of Bangladeshi cricketer Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL, saying, “Insulting one of our cricketers is tantamount to insulting the country.”

He made the remarks while speaking to reporters at his residence at Kalibari in Thakurgaon on Monday (January 12).

Fakhrul, a former cricketer and Bangladesh Cricket Board member, stressed that international cricket is closely linked to national pride. “Our player has been disrespected, and in turn, we feel the nation’s honor has been affected,” he said.

Commenting on law and order, he criticised the government’s failure to recover illegal weapons, saying the situation shows little improvement. On BNP’s role, Fakhrul called the party a tested and major political force and highlighted its contributions to national achievements.

Regarding international river water sharing, he reaffirmed Bangladesh’s demand for its fair share from India, including from the Teesta and Padma rivers.
