Interim govt strongly condemns defamation of Freedom Fighter in Cumilla
The interim government has "strongly condemned" the defamation of Freedom Fighter Abdul Hai at Chauddagram on Sunday.
"The police and local administration have been asked to launch an investigation into the incident and bring the perpetrators to book," Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder said on Monday, reports UNB.
Local police have said Hai is an accused in nine cases, including murder, Azad said.
"We ask all to refrain from taking the law into their own hands," he said.
Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, the interim government's home adviser stated that those involved in harassing freedom fighters in Cumilla would be brought under the law, adding, “We will ensure that anyone harassing freedom fighters is held accountable under the law.”
