Interim govt's focus now is on legal ratification: Adviser Asif

Labour and Employment Adviser Asif Mahmud said that "This government’s legitimacy comes from the people’s uprising. The focus now is on legal ratification and related matters. Over the past three months, you have seen the progress in our activities.

He also added that the interim government draws its legitimacy from a public uprising.

He made this statement on Sunday, responding to journalists' questions after a coordination meeting on the present labour situation at the Secretariat.

“Our chief adviser holds regular meetings with reform commissions, and the reform process will follow their reports. These commissions were formed specifically to dismantle fascist systems."

He added: "Based on recommendations from these commissions, we have outlined a plan to finalize reforms in consultation with stakeholders and political parties. Through this, we hope to bring to life the vision of a 'New Bangladesh' that we speak of."
