Before the dust could settle on their 2-2 draw against New Zealand, Iran's national football team was dealt a humiliating blow. Immediately after the match, they were ordered to leave the United States from the Los Angeles stadium. With no time to rest, head coach Amir Ghalenoei and captain Mehdi Taremi expressed their frustration.

According to the original plan, the Iranian players were supposed to stay in California on Monday night (local time) after the match. However, the order to leave the country immediately forced them to take a flight to Mexico the same night.

Taremi voiced his anger, saying the team was stopped for five hours at a security checkpoint when crossing the Mexico border on Sunday. "The players and coaching staff are under immense mental pressure. We are not receiving support from any side. FIFA should stand by us. This entire World Cup feels like a disaster for us," Taremi said.

Due to political tensions, Iran has been forced to set up their base camp in Mexico and is only allowed to enter the US for brief periods to play matches. Iran will face Belgium in Los Angeles on June 21 in their second Group A match before playing Egypt in Seattle on June 28.
