Iranian Ambassador to Bangladesh Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi has said arrangements will be made for the speedy passage of Bangladeshi ships stranded in the Strait of Hormuz due to the war situation. He also informed that necessary steps will be taken after discussions with the Bangladesh government on this matter.

The ambassador made these remarks while speaking as chief guest at a mourning rally and anti-war demonstration organised by the Revolutionary Student Council at the Dhaka University Bot Tala on Sunday afternoon, April 12.

Regarding Bangladesh-Iran relations, the ambassador said the two countries share friendly ties, and Iran considers Bangladesh a fraternal nation.

On Iran-US dialogue, he said Iran has conveyed to the United States that it will participate in talks only if they are based on mutual respect; otherwise, it will not engage. Iran will refrain from attacks until the designated ceasefire period ends, but if the US violates the ceasefire, Iran will be compelled to respond.

Regarding the Islamabad talks, the ambassador alleged that the US had launched attacks during previous negotiations. He claimed that the US does not genuinely seek to establish peace but participates in talks only to project its position on the international stage. He further stated that attempts were made to change Iran's system of governance through attacks, but those plans failed as the people stood with the government.

The ambassador noted that hospitals, universities and schools had been damaged in the attacks, and ordinary people, including children, had lost their lives. He said Iran does not want war but has built up resistance against aggression.

The event also featured a symbolic display of coffins, blood-stained school bags and photographs of Iranian children killed in US-Israeli strikes, along with an anti-war signature campaign.
