Ishraque Hossain keen to contest DSCC election if nominated
State Minister for Liberation War Affairs Ishraque Hossain has expressed his interest in contesting the Dhaka South City Corporation mayoral election if nominated by BNP.
He made the remarks to journalists after a courtesy meeting with Dhaka South City Administrator Abdus Salam on Saturday afternoon, February 28.
He said, "If the party considers and nominates me, I will contest. If no one else does, I can participate in the election."
He added that the party will ultimately decide who receives the nomination.
He further said, "Our rival political party has received votes at an abnormal rate, beyond imagination. I want to speak about my constituency. In 1996, Jamaat-e-Islami's highest vote there was 3,000. And the hand fan symbol received 6,000."
He stated that he will inform the government about this matter, suggesting that verification should be conducted to determine who these voters are and whether the voter list has been properly prepared.
