Ishraque supporters resume demonstration, Nagar Bhaban remains shut

Despite the conclusion of the extended 10-day Eid holiday and the reopening of public and private offices nationwide, Nagar Bhaban the headquarters of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) remained closed as of Sunday morning (June 15).

Supporters of BNP leader Ishraque Hossain resumed their protest outside the building at 10:00am, demanding that he be sworn in as mayor without further delay.

Ishraque Hossain joined the demonstrators around 11:15am to announce the next phase of their movement.

The protest, launched under the banner “Dhaka Bashi,” began with a sit-in on May 14. The following day, a significant number of DSCC employees showed solidarity by joining the demonstration.

Since then, all entrances to Nagar Bhaban have been locked, effectively suspending the corporation’s services.
